Mood: Just Chillin Dude
10th August 2006
Windsurfing: Ynyslas
Wind Direction: NW
Wind Stength: 20-30 knots
Surf / Sea State: 2-3 foot messy surf
Air Temperature: 15ºC
Sea Temperature: 17ºC
Weather: Cloudy
Max Speed: 26.0 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 14.0 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

The wind was pretty gusty again and I opted for my new 86 litre Hybrid Freewave and 5m sail. That was probably the right chooice, but I was a little overpowered in the gusts and a little underpowered on occasion in the shorebreak during the lulls. Once up and going I was fine though and I was generally well powered and having fun.
I'm still getting used to the board, It is pretty easy to sail but isn't too forgiving of bad technique, espeically when getting going. Too much mastfoot pressure and not enough weight on the back foot and what little nose there is takes a dive, some nifty footwork can let you recover it pretty easily, but sometimes you end up looking as though you made a bad attempt at a gecko! Too little mfo and/or too much backfoot pressure and the board spins into wind.

I got it up to 26 knots which may not sound that fast but considering the rough sea stata I think it was pretty good.

All in all a good session but gusty winds and the fact it was 6am meant that I wasn't quite at my best.
